| The Worm Hut Stackable Compost Bin is a 3, 4, or 5 tier worm composter. It uses worms to rapidly break down food scraps into natural fertilizer. With it, you can reduce the amount of trash that you throw out by 10-30%.
The 3 tray Worm Hut is 20 inches tall and 16 x 16 inches. It has a lid, and the bottom layer has legs that raise the bin off of the ground to keep out ants, snakes, and mice. Each tray has a perforated bottom that allows worms to move freely between trays. This is important because they will typically burrow through soil 5 times before completing the composting process.
When worms reproduce, they leave egg cocoons. The design of this tray allows baby worms to climb out of their cocoons and find food. Over time, your Worm Hut will fill up with as many worms as the food supply will support. You can use it to breed worms for your garden, or harvest the worms for fishing bait, reptile food, or feeding to farm animals.
The Worm Hut works like an assembly line. Put vegetable peels, fruit pits, and moldy bread in the top tray and when the tray is full you put an empty tray on top of it. By the time each tray reaches the bottom layer, it is full of finished compost and worm castings. Empty the bottom tray, and move it to the top to start the process over again.
Worm castings are a very powerful fertilizer, loaded with active microbes and bio-accessible nutrients. Houseplants love organic fertilizer, and it can also be used to brighten up dead spots in your yard or to boost tree growth. Fertilizer with active microbes will also help break down pollution and the residue of chemical fertilizers. By treating your yard with worm castings, it's possible to undo years of chemical damage.
This composter also comes with a spigot for draining the compost tea. As compost breaks down, it releases a lot of moisture that drains to the bottom of the composter. This liquid is a mild fertilizer that can be used as a compost activator or soil stimulator. Draining the compost tea regularly ensures that your worms wont drown.
Available in your choice of recycled black, green, or terra cotta/red.
