So what makes coco fiber so much better than peat moss?

Coco fiber beats peat moss in the long run, because peat moss absolutely requires a chemical additive to absorb water. Peat moss also sheds water until the surface is saturated, and compacts easily. It is also acidic - it has a pH value of about 4 (whereas coco fiber has a neutral pH balance). Therefore, peat moss can acidify the soil, scorch roots, and wilt leaves. Peat moss also occasionally contains sticks, stones, and other miscellaneous debris. You never know what you're getting with peat. These reasons alone make coco fiber a far superior alternative to peat moss.
